Welcome to #3! Right off, I'd like to thank those who responded to the survey! Your answers were really helpful. One of the biggest problems with being a 1 person business, is that I only get 1 perspective: mine!  I received considerably more replies than I expected, & I believe I wrote everyone back personally. if you didn't get a reply, there was likely an issue with a spam filter at either your or my end.

Here's a list of the most popular suggestions, & what I plan to do with them!

1. Suggestion:

Formatting. There were several requests to make this look better & also separate requests to have links in the table of contents

What I'm going to do about it:

Implemented this issue. Back in the old days (2000-2004) I used to send both plain text & html editions to 2 separate lists. There were a number of reasons the HTML edition was discontinued (larger file size & deliverability to name a couple), but I'm going to try it again. Please let me know what you think!

2. Lower Prices

Starting this issue, you will see significantly lower prices on many non collectable used items. I don't have the ability to do this with most new cd's & dvd's, but there is room to lower prices on many used items. These prices will only be available on this newsletter & the website; due to fee increases we're actually going to have to raise our prices on ebay.

3. Offer a referral credit

I like this one. From now on, if you introduce a friend to the newsletter, I will give you a credit of 15% on your next newsletter order of whatever your friend spends (before shipping) on their first order! I.E. if your friend spends $100, you get $15 off of your next order.

4. Repeat more items from previous newsletters; I may have missed them the first time around.

One thing this brought up for me is that I haven't done a "Geff's recommended cd & dvd issue" in quite awhile, where I list everything from our always changing inventory of aprox 4000 titles that I really like. I will try to do this soon!

5. Shorten the newsletter, it's too long!

It was interesting to hear this feedback. I'm often worried that i don't have enough of interest in a given list, so I keep waiting to find more stuff to make it longer! I also want to make it as easy as possible for you to take advantage of the free shipping with $50 order promotion. Not sure where I'm going to go with this. In an ideal world I would list 50 or so items that were really cool, really cheap & I had a lot of. Unfortunately all but 2 of our large wholesalers have gone of of business in the last couple years, so I am getting a lot more one offs than we used to. And unfortunately of the 2 larger overstock wholesalers left, one has really gone downhill this year & the other is quite expensive.

Since I'm on my soapbox.......... Dandylion originally started with a mission of providing quality music at prices lower than the norm. Our original mix was a combination of new overstock/cutouts & used. At our peak I had around 15 large wholesalers, + when i had employees I used to drive all over the state looking for cool used cd's.

In the mid 00's, I found a wonderful Wholesaler in the UK, who offered numerous European titles not available in the US at great pricing, & if you've been with me that long you probably remember when that became our focus for several years. Unfortunately they also went out of business a couple years ago. if I was wealthy, i would consider starting a wholesale company to fill a huge void!

Since then, our biggest focus has been on a combination of cd's I find locally & we have expanded heavily into dvd's. Which brings us to......

6.  Start offering more dvd's!

We do. Our current inventory is actually almost 1/2 dvd. They are located at the end
of the newsletter, & I've come to understand that many people don't make it that far! Hopefully the new table of contents with links will help. To tell the truth, at this time I am finding many more quality movies at budget prices that music.

Which brings us to............

7. Several folks mentioned they are archiving their music collection on there computers & not often playing cd's anymore

Please remember I am always interested in purchasing or consigning your unwanted mint condition cd's & dvd's. We pay $.50-$3 cash for single titles (more for some multi disc sets & collectables), a bit more in trade than cash, & also offer consignment where we split the proceeds 50-50. Please email me with a list if you're interested!

8. Photos & complete track listings would be helpful!

I agree. Unfortunately there's only 1 of me.......(my last employee Carol Fort was laid off in 2003 due to the economy; funny how today 2003's economy seems great by comparison!). Several folks suggested links to sites where this information is available. One free option is All Music Guide:

9. Implementing 1 click ordering continues to be my #1 priority. I am still working on that & I still find it stunning all the barriers in the way of doing so. It's actually currently looking more difficult now than it did when i wrote the survey!

One other negative to mention: On 4/17/11 the US Postal Service will be implementing another rate hike.  Once again, we will absorb the hike for USA customers, but unfortunately there will be a significant shipping increase for all packages sent outside if the USA after 4/16/11. Shipping for all international packages under 1 pound will go up by $1.00 USD per package.

*** Richard  & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out The Lights (sealed) -
Tremendous cd features Walking On A Wire (check out the guitar
solo!!!), Shoot Out The Lights, Don't Renege On Our Love & more. To me,
Thompson's work went downhill after he left Linda. Features Fairport
convention (Pegg, Nicol & Mattacks) as the rhythm section. In cardboard packaging;
the packaging is not totally flat. No upc code. In very hard to read small printing, the
back cover states, "p & c 1982 Rykodisc. Manufactured & Marketed by Videoarts Music
Inc in Japan under exclusive License from Rykodisc". Your guess is as good as mine as
to the actual source/country of origin! The package is a bit thinner than what I would normally
call a "mini-LP sleeve" & though sealed there is no obi. Hannibal VACK 1288. $9.99

*** Richard & Linda Thompson - I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
(new but not sealed expanded remastered UK issue) - Another tremendous
Thompson cd that has gone out of print in the US. 1974 album includes
the title track, The End Of The Rainbow, The Little Beggar Girl, When I
Get To The Border, Has He Got A Friend For Me & more. This recent
expanded, remastered edition also includes Live versions of I Want To
See The Bright Lights Tonight, Together Again & The Calvary Cross.
