Ultimate Jazz Archive Sets: The following sets are all 4 cd collections from the German Membran label (also known as Past perfect, Trumpets Of Jerhico & many other names) There is usually 1 artist per cd, & each of these sets have 4 cd's at a bargain price Historically, the sound quality of their releases has been a bit controversial Most people seem to either love or hate the sound of these discs In my experience, they are successful at removing pretty much all scratching, but the discs also tend to be a bit boosted in the lower midrange, the worst of them (which these are not), can sound somewhat like a telephone What I've found is that people with cheaper stereos tend to really like these, while those with high end systems tend too not like the sonic choices I kept one of these sets for myself, & I'd say these are not the worst sounding of the Membrans, but don't expect anything close to audiophile sound either However, at $7 99 for a 4 cd set they're a great bargain!
