Welcome to our first issue of 2009, I hope you had a great holiday season! I'm sorry this is coming to you much later then I promised, we had issues with an order being really messed up (it's actually going to arrive the day after you receive this!), & one of these days I'm going to realize that as I get older, I just can't do things as fast as I used to
We do have another great issue for you Because Dandylion is built on bargains, I often don't really know what's going to be in a given newsletter until it goes out With this issue, I was concerned that there weren't enough cd's, then last Tuesday I made a large unexpected buy; the fruits of what you'll see here!
It's been awhile since I mentioned just what it is we do, so especially for newer subscribers: Dandylion Records focus is to provide you with quality CD's & DVD's at the lowest possible price We mostly stay away from the top 40 & offer you great music & movies both USA & imports that our suppliers come up with at lower then normal pricing When we get new items in, we save up almost all of them & offer them to you first on this newsletter BEFORE any left overs go up on ebay There's no bidding here, just the great prices! New items are noted as new &/or sealed; if that isn't stated the item is used Any known flaws are also noted, if no flaws are mentioned you can assume that the disc & cover art are in excellent condition We have limited quantities of most items If we have more then 1 of a given title we let you know, it's the number in parenthesis right after the price There's currently about 1600 people subscribed, so I encourage you to email asap with your orders to provide the best chance of getting all that you want You'll find our inhouse grading system at the very bottom of this email

Here's a quick rundown on our grading system for condition: The following are with the exception of occasional jewelcase damage, as jewelcases are usually generic, 25 cents each & very easily damaged & replaced:
"Sealed" - Brand new
"New but not sealed" - Also brand new, but not in cellophane Many European releases are not issued in shrink wrap & are usually only sealed if a supplier has a shrink wrap machine Occasionally we also get brand new USA cd's that for various reasons are sold to us out of the cellophane
Used, with no flaws mentioned in the description - This is our default if we don't mention otherwise The equivalent of the old vinyl "mint-" grade; not quite perfect but really close
"Extremely Lightly Scratched" - "Extremely Lightly" (i e just barely, very little, etc) is the key here; this grades between the old Vinyl VG+ (means Very Good+) & mint- Not quite perfect, & most people wouldn't even see the scratching
"Very Lightly Scratched" - The equivalent of a high VG+ in vinyl Any scratching is quite light
"Lightly Scratched" - Equivalent Of VG; there are some light scratches, but the disc looks mostly clean
"Light-Moderately Scratched" - Equivalent to VG-, the scratches are more visible, but no circular scratches & will definitely play fine
"Moderately Scratched" - This is the lowest grade that we believe is likely to play with no skips, the scratching is getting heavier & doesn't look real good Equivalent to the vinyl grade of good
The last 2 grades we use are "moderate-heavily scratched" & for the worst discs, "heavily scratched" These are pretty beat up & may or may not still play perfectly It's very seldom that we offer anything in these categories (or even "moderate" for that matter) As an fyi, they only way I've found to be able to see all scratches on an optical disc is under a regular standard light bulb Florescent lights & sunlight tend to hide about 50% of scratches I look at every used disc under a regular light bulb when writing the descriptions
